HGHS Scholarships: Florida Hispanic Heritage Essay.
Governor Ron DeSantis’ and First Lady Casey DeSantis’ Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest is open to all students attending any Florida school in grades 4-12 (public, charter, private, home or virtual).Governor Rick Scott’s Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest is open to all students attending a Florida school in grades 4-12. Three winners will be selected: one elementary school student (grades 4-5), one middle school student (grades 6-8), and one high school student (grades 9-12).Three Florida students can now attend four years at a Florida college for free after writing winning essays about Hispanic Americans and their contributions to our state. The Florida Prepaid College Foundation recently awarded 4-Year Florida College Plan scholarships to the elementary, middle and high school winners of the Governor’s Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest.
Since 2001, the Foundation has supported the Governor’s Hispanic Heritage Month events through the award of Florida College and University scholarships to essay contest winners. Open to Florida students from 4th through 12th grade, the contest celebrates notable Hispanic educators and leaders.For purposes of the Hispanic Heritage Scholarship Fund of Metro Orlando, “Hispanic” is defined as anyone who was born in or is a first or second generation descendant of a person who was born in any of the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua.
